Miss.Ganesh Ganeshan Priyasri

Type: Research Student

“G.G.Priyasri holds a Bachelor of Biosystems Technology (Honours) degree in Bioprocess Technology from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka, and is currently reading for a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Agriculture Biotechnology at University of Ruhuna, with a research focus on mycology and termite–fungus interactions.

She is an early-career researcher with a strong interest in fungi associated with fungus-growing termites and termite mounds across different climatic zones of Sri Lanka. Her M.Phil. research aims to collect, isolate, and characterize termite-associated fungi using morphological and molecular approaches, and to evaluate their potential as sustainable biocontrol agents for termite management. Through this work, she seeks to contribute to the understanding of fungal diversity, ecology, and functional roles within termite symbioses.

Her research interests broadly include fungal taxonomy, fungal ecology, termite–microbe symbiosis, and applied mycology, with particular emphasis on environmentally friendly pest management strategies. She is gaining hands-on experience in fungal culturing techniques, microscopic identification, molecular analysis, and phylogenetic interpretation.”
