WELCOME TO ADVANCING MICROBIOLOGY RESEARCH IN SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka, a recognized biodiversity hotspot with a wide range of ecosystems, remains underexplored in terms of fungal diversity, with only about 3,000 species recorded to date. Since 2022, the Tropical Microbiology Research Foundation (TMRF) has been advancing microbiological research by discovering and documenting microbes across diverse habitats using modern identification techniques. TMRF strives to foster collaborations and provide training for students, enthusiasts, and government officers, strengthening Sri Lanka’s role as a leader in tropical microbial research.
